The BeerLady is not all beer, all the time. She also enjoys a good cocktail. And everyone should have a place where they can ponder on life's mysteries, or maybe on what to have for dinner. Even the BeerLady!

James Bond & the Vesper

You know, it's a funny thing. I'm a huge James Bond fan, but I've never been big on either reading the books or watching the movies. Huh? I know, makes no sense whatsoever. But Bond is the coolest of the cool. (Sean Connery is still the Number One Bond, but I have to say, Daniel Craig surely has that whole dangerous bad-boy thing going on. Connery just may have some competition.)

And there is nothing cooler than what, to me, is the ultimate James Bond martini. Yes, the Vesper, immortalized in Casino Royale. (As a bit of trivia, as far as I know, that is the only time that specific cocktail ever makes an appearance.)

So, how does James Bond make his perfect cocktail? Well, it's a pretty simple recipe. Read more...

What I've Been Reading....

As a way of introduction, I should tell you that The BeerLady could also cheerfully be The BookLady. I've always loved to read. I drove my mother nuts because I would bring a book to the table and want to read while I ate. She took away the book, I'd pass the time reading the cereal box (that only worked at breakfast, of course). And to this day, I'll read almost anything, anywhere, any time.

All that said, my friends will probably be surprised at my most recent book - Bible Illuminated The Book New Testament. Now, I'm definitely not The ChurchLady. Possibly the kindest thing that could be said is that I'm not conventionally religious. But when I was given the opportunity to take a look at this new release, I jumped on it. And it's a great book!

This new look at the New Testament is probably not for the hard-core traditionalist. The stories are the same (they use the standard Good News Translation), but the presentation is very different. Very contemporary, and much more approachable. If you're curious to hear more, I've written a more complete review here.
